A look back at the genesis, implementation and acceptance of the work of the surimi center construction project.
Context of construction of the Surimi Training Center
Social issues
Social advancement of women working in the fishing sector in Ivory coast is a major concern of the Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources (MIRAH).
The difficulties that these women encounter are numerous. And faced with the challenges of food security, MIRAH signed a Memorandum of Understanding on November 27, 2020 with the NGO Uminokuni and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). This memorandum is part of the fisheries cooperation between Ivory coast and Japan.
Cooperation to improve livelihoods
Fisheries cooperation which is at the origin of the signed memorandum aims to promote fish consumption and improve nutrition through rational and sustainable use of fisheries resources.
Concretely, it will allow to :
- Teach the technique of making surimi to Ivorian women working in nutrition and fishing sectors;
- Develop business cooperation between women in fisheries and those in other sectors;
- Improve promoting conditions for fishery products.
